Study Notes Chapter 8 GE 101




Why Have tests?



"If I were a teacher I would have a written out test every so often to see how much information my students picked up over the week just to make sure they are staying focused." GE 101 Student Fall 2009







  1. The purpose of taking a test:
    1)to determine what is being taught
    2 to measure learning
    3 assess how well students are learning
    4 memory skills
    5 determine how well the teacher is doing
    6 student progress

    Beating Test Anxiety
    1.Look over your notes
    2.Take a walk
    3.Go to the library
    4.Relax 5. Take deep breaths.



Steps you can take to reduce distractions
1.sit in the front of the class
2.pay attention




How to do well on a test.
I would tell my friend to 1)use her study time wisely,




2)get enough sleep the night before, 3)eat a good warm breakfast the morning of the test, and 4)while taking the test be sure to take your time 5)go back and double check your answers.
Visualization strategies are useful when remembering unrelated items that is pulled together.
I would say use your time wisely and don't rush through tests. Spend more time studying and try to remember everything you need to know.

Objective or Subjective Question?
An objective test question recalls facts and concepts that cover multiple choice, true/false and short answer forms. subjective questions are opinions on a material and new material.
Subjective ??are questions that ask for your own opinion about the material or ask you to apply the material in a new way.
Cheat Sheet Index Card
1.A cheat sheet could be a shortened and condensed version of the information.
2.A cheat sheet can help you study by reading all the questions and writing them down.
3.when you write it down you may remember it easier
Study in Groups or Alone
When study groups get too big, people may start getting distracted and can't focus.
By studying alone, you have no one around you to distract you and you will probably be able to concentrate better.
Some benefits of a study group is getting together with other people that are studying the same subject and going over questions and points that might be asked on a test.
1. Benefiting from others notes, sharing notes
2. Creative way of studying, using Internet or chat rooms
3. Quiz each other over the material
4. Help each other stay on task.

If you miss class talk it out in your study groups.

Why do teachers use essay tests?
They use essay questions to measure the students' ability to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the concept they learned; it in gauges us me to recall in facts.
